Emmanuel realized that his earlier misjudgment in tactics had led him to a

precarious situation. Even if he wanted to change strategies now, it might be

too late.

“Emmanuel, you’re finished!” Freya, despite her average combat skills, was no

fool. She knew Emmanuel was a formidable force, and she wasn’t going to

give him any chance to catch his breath.

“I’ll first break your limbs. Once I’ve remade you, I’ll restore them later.”

The Dark Night Islands existed primarily to create the world’s most formidable

assassins. If she could capture both Emmanuel and Mackenzie, the island

would have fulfilled its historical mission, even if everyone else died. The Holy

Trinity would still praise her for her achievements, outweighing any mistakes

Freya wanted to test the limits of the Wolf Warrior and see how his strength

compared to the power of the Heart of the Sun. That was why she had

allowed the Alliance to form. Fortunately, everything was still under her

control. Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.

The Battle Within the Tower

By now, the Alliance had taken over all parts of the central tower except for

the third level, where Yasmine and a group of fighters had fortified their

defenses. However, they were growing increasingly anxious as they could not

breach the sixth floor, and Emmanuel had yet to emerge. With

communication cut off at multiple levels, the Alliance grew increasingly

restless, and morale began to decline.

Yasmine was well aware of that, and in a secret chamber on the third floor,

she sneered, “Just over three hours left! None of these rebels will escape!”

Agargar, Lonny, and the other top fighters had also calmed down. Every

passing second worked in their favor, and they believed that Emmanuel

stood no chance against Freya, especially not within this tower.

“Your Holiness, this is as far as I can take you,” Scarlet said as she helped

Mackenzie down from her horse at the entrance to the tower.

Mackenzie understood Scarlet’s stance. Although Scarlet wasn’t her enemy,

neither was she an ally. Scarlet had her own beliefs and values, making her a

lone wolf, difficult to control. The fact that she had helped the Alliance this

much was already a significant gesture,

As Scarlet rode off into the distance, Mackenzie took a deep breath, her

resolve unshaken, and stepped into the tower, where the flames of battle still

burned fiercely.

“Who’s there?” A voice called out as soon as Mackenzie entered the tower,

and she found herself staring down the barrel of a gun.

The situation inside was dire, with heavy casualties, and the Alliance was on

high alert, ready to shoot at any perceived threat.

“Hey, hey, don’t shoot! Please, don’t shoot!” A man suddenly appeared out of nowhere, jumping in front of Mackenzie with his hands raised, grinning, “Don’t do it, for my sake! Look at my ugly mug, don’t shoot!”

“Get lost!” Bella, from the Doggo Team, emerged from the Alliance ranks and

coldly dismissed the man. “Who do you think you are? You think anyone

cares about your ugly face?”

“Hey, ugly as it may be, it’s useful! A man’s gotta have substance!” the man

chuckled.

“Blake, step aside! They’ll recognize me, and they won’t shoot,” Mackenzie

intervened.

“I wouldn’t be so confident. There could be traitors among them…” Blake

remained cautious, scanning the surroundings. He knew how vital the

Saintess was. If anything happened to her, the outcome of the war would be

unpredictable.

“Salute to the Commander–in–Chief’s wife!” Bella was the first to kneel,

followed by the entire room.

“Get up, everyone! What kind of outdated etiquette is this? It’s unnecessary!”

Mackenzie said with a wry smile. In Yeringham, she had been highly

regarded, but no one had ever knelt before her.

Just then, a gunshot rang out from a hidden spot.

“Watch out!” Blake, ever vigilant, threw himself in front of Mackenzie.

Clang!

The Golden Bell shield protected them, deflecting the bullet.

“Damn it, that hurt!” Blake grumbled, wanting to leap forward and take down

the assailant. However, the lingering injury from his fight with Yosef caused a

sudden pain in his leg, making it impossible to jump as high as he wanted.

Sighing, he decided against it.

Bang!

Bella’s sharp shooting took down the traitor who had attempted to

assassinate the Saintess.

“Dagnabbit, we should have taken him alive!”
