Chapter 500
Selena couldn't help but find the whole situation a bit funny.
She took a deep breath and said, "Everett, we're divorced. Stop with these jokes already!"
"Or what, Mr. Everett? Still can't shake those old habits? Always looking for more than what's in front of you, huh? One woman not enough? Need a few extras to keep the loneliness at bay?"
"If that's your game, there are plenty who'd be up for it. Go find those who are into it too, everyone can be happy. But count me out!"
She yanked her hand back with all her strength. If it weren't for needing to talk about her uncle, she would've flipped the table and walked out.
The nerve of this guy, saying such shameless things!
Everett's eyes got a bit red, and he looked at her steadily for a long moment, his voice rough, "If you're still upset about Margot, I've been wanting to explain what really happened between us for three years." "I can tell you now..."
"No need!"
Selena cut him off without hesitation, "Who you're with doesn't matter to me anymore. Mr. Everett, don't you get it? Your timing is always terrible!"
When she loved him, she gave him everything and chance after chance. She hated herself for being so lovesick, but what choice did she have with feelings that strong?
So she tried to trust him, imagining a balanced, happy life, raising kids with him. She even dreamed of growing old together, hand in hand.
But he was the one who crushed her sincerity, tearing her dreams apart every time.
By the time her heart was cold and done with love, he wouldn't let go, still entangling her in his mess.
They were never in sync, never on the same page.
Selena still felt the sting; she was truly exhausted.
"Everett, if you blame me, want revenge, fine. But my uncle is
waiting for Dr. Fernando to save his life. You know how important he is to me. If his condition worsens..." noveldrama

"Selena."
Everett softly interrupted her.
He looked at the table full of dishes, once steaming hot, now almost cold, untouched by her.
She was back, sitting across from him, yet he still felt alone.
Over these past three years, he often ate by himself, always reminded of how she used to make delicious meals for him.
She'd tirelessly remind him not to drown in work and to eat properly every day.
She'd even go out of her way to bring meals to his office, despite his frosty reception.
He longed to share a meal with her again, no... not just one, but to eat together for the rest of their lives.
Though it was just adding a bowl and a pair of chopsticks, it could chase away the cold, lonely feeling around him.
"Dr. Fernando's team is backed by
me, along with other top medical teams. handle your uncle's treatment; you don't have to worry or lose sleep over it anymore."

He got up, walked over to Selena, and took her hand again, pressing her palm against his chest.
He lowered his gaze, eyes filled with longing.
"Now that you're back, please stay. I won't mess up again. Give me another chance, let's start fresh, okay?"
His Adam's apple bobbed slightly,
his voice softer as he added, "As
long as you cut things off with Callum, I won't dig into what
