Nathaniel forced the card into Janet’s hand, “You are the one who translated the contract, so the

reward should be yours.”

The metal card passed across her tender palm, and Janet was stung. The irritability in her heart piled

up inexplicably. She raised her eyes and looked at Nathaniel coldly.

“Nathaniel Webster, Mr. Webster, are you always this inconsiderate?”

Beneath her indifferent appearance, there was a strong annoyance.

Nathaniel’s face darkened slightly.

He just wanted to give her a reward, but in her eyes, he was being inconsiderate?!

Nathaniel was very upset. She was so kind to people. She even helped a stranger. But why was she

indifferent and resistant to him?

Alfred observed the situation and smoothed things over with a smile, “Maybe you take half, and Willis

take the other half?” Willis also felt that the atmosphere was scary. He understood that Alfred was

helping, so he quickly nodded, “Yeah, Miss Longfellow, you have helped me so much. I am not

qualified to get paid. You really need to take half of it. Otherwise, I will feel really bad.”

Seeing his expectant eyes, Janet eased a little, “Fine, take the card. We’ll talk about it later.”

Hearing that, Nathaniel was totally triggered.

When he said she should take it, she declined. When someone else said so, they could talk about it

later?!

His face was tense, and his eyes were deep and cold. “Janet Longfellow, we were a couple. Do you

really have to be this defensive toward me?”

After hearing that, Janet laughed.

She helped him, but he didn’t appreciate her help at all. Instead, he was picking on her and mocking

her.

Janet held back her temper and decided to make it clear.

“Nathaniel Webster, the porcelain bowl was a misunderstanding. Sorry that I ruined your cooperation. I

helped you translate the contract today. So now we’re even. I don’t owe you anything.”

Hearing the word “even,” Nathaniel became angry for no reason.

There seemed to be a voice in his heart saying that he didn’t want to get even with her, but since they

divorced, she just cared about getting even and irrelevant with him.

She was drawing a line with him.

“Do

you

think it can be evened easily?” Nathaniel asked her back with a sneer.

“Then what do you want?”

Janet sighed deeply, exhausted.

After translating continuously for several hours, she no longer had the energy to continue to argue with

Nathaniel.

“Nathaniel Webster, I hope this is the last time. We are already divorced, so we should be strangers.”

She gently closed her eyes, and when she opened them again, her eyes were full of determination.

Nathaniel was stung by her resolute gaze. He felt that she was cutting his heart with a blunt knife.

He sneered mockingly.

“Stranger? Does this sound convincing? You chose my flight and my hotel. And you said you wanted

us to be strangers? Can this convince you?”

Nathaniel approached Janet with his eyes gloomy, “Janet, you are saying no, but you actually want

more!”

As soon as he said so, a slap made the air freeze.

Alfred and Willis were dumbfounded, unable to believe what had happened.

Janet actually slapped Nathaniel!

“You need something to sober you up!”

Janet’s hand was numb, and her body trembled slightly due to anger. Yet the expression on her face

was still cold. © NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.

After speaking, she left without looking back.

There was a palm print on Nathaniel’s cheek. He watched her leave in a daze and then slowly came

back to his senses.

There was a burning pain on his face, but he didn’t feel very angry.

For a while, Nathaniel didn’t understand why…
