Chapter 45
"But you can't do things that'll let Andy down."
Mayra nodded. "Alright. Thanks for telling me, Isa. But you can't tell Andy about this though! You can't tell him that I have a crush on Gordon."
Isabel nodded with a smile. "Got it, Mayra."
Mayra noticed the hint of wariness in her eyes disappeared. She didn't pry into Mayra after what she said either. Was Isabel actually innocent?
In her past life, however, she still drank the water despite knowing it was drugged. Mayra thought Isabel was trying to get rid of her. Yet, she feigned innocence in front of Anderson. Text © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
She lost in her past life because she wasn't as pretentious as Isabel. Mayra decided to steer clear of Isabel now. She'd leave once Isabel and Anderson got married.
Dealing with Anderson and Isabel was truly daunting for her. It was worse than solving the Math Olympiad questions Gordon gave her.
…
The Barlow mansion was immense, spanning an area of around 5,000 square feet. A dozen housekeepers worked in the mansion to ensure Anderson's comfort.
Mayra feigned fear the moment they arrived at their destination. Her expression was masked by shock as she stood before the mansion.
Worried that she might be anxious, Isabel took her hand. "Don't be intimidated. Just treat it as your own home. We have maids here as well. You can walk around if you're bored."
Mayra nodded. Isabel might've carried herself with grace, but an air of superiority was still palpable in her tone. She was born with a silver spoon after all.
In Mayra's previous life, she lived here with Anderson for years. Her heart barely stirred on her return. No one knew it wasn't her first time here.
As she strode in, the maids were already standing in two rows, welcoming their return. "Welcome home, Mr. Anderson, Ms. Isabel…" Noticing Mayra's presence, they sneaked a few glances at her unfamiliar face.
As the Lady of the Barlow mansion, Isabel began, "This is Andy's sister, Mayra. She'll be part of our family from today onward. Please take good care of her."
"Alright, Ms. Isabel. Nice to meet you, Ms. Mayra."
Isabel led Mayra into the lavish living room. "This is your first time here, so you're my guest. Have a seat, and I'll get you some water. There's a garden at the back. I can accompany you later—"
"N-No need for the hassle." Mayra sensed Anderson's eyes on her, scrutinizing her behavior.
She feigned ignorance until he rumbled, "She will have plenty of time to do that in the future. Follow me, Mayra."
