Chapter 459
Ethan's words left my heart pounding.
I looked up into his eyes. His tone, just like it used to be, brought everything from our past rushing back-those sweet dates, the nights we spent talking, and... the heartbreak that tore it all apart. H-How could he remember all of that? C-Could it be that he had carried those memories of our past lives like I had?
"Ethan, w-what are you talking about?" I played dumb. "Isn't this our first time here? How do you already know it so well?"
"Is that so? I must've been mistaken." Ethan grinned. "But I'm really glad we're sharing a meal. You've been working so hard by yourself all these years-it must've been tough."
He reached out and gently tapped the bridge of my nose. "You've lost some weight, and your dark circles are getting worse. Work might get overwhelming, but you've still got to take care of yourself." I told myself it was probably just sleep deprivation from racing the night before. But the way he acted made my heart flutter. He'd said the same things and made the same moves before. This wasn't just a coincidence. It was meant to happen.
Tears suddenly welled up in my eyes.
"I'm fine." I turned my face so he wouldn't see how vulnerable I was.
"You still need to treat yourself right, no matter how busy you are, right? Ms. Wiley, you're a big name now. Evelyn Studio is thriving and has a bright future ahead," Ethan said with a knowing smile.
He took a beat and then changed the topic. "By the way, I'm heading to Melando for a business trip tomorrow, and I'll swing by the fashion show there. Why don't you come with me?"
I was stunned. Was he... inviting me to travel with him?
"But I still have some work to finish..." I hesitated.
"Don't worry about it." Ethan waved it off. "I've already talked to Kevin and the team. Nothing big is going down at the company for the next few days. With Kevin and Lianne in charge, don't you trust them to manage things at the company?
"Plus, taking a break could actually help with your design work. You never know, it might spark some new ideas."
I bit my lip, torn about whether or not to go with Ethan to Melando.
I knew Kevin and Lianne were more than capable-they were totally reliable. It was just that traveling with Ethan felt a bit much, considering what was going on with Kevin and me. But deep down, something was telling me to go for it.
Suddenly, a commotion broke out at the restaurant entrance. I couldn't help but look over my shoulder and saw a group of trendy young people heading in.
At the front of the group was a tall,
stunning woman. She took a quick look around, spotted Ethan and me, and walked over to our table confidently. "Mr. Grayson, Ms. Wiley, what a coincidence! I wasn't
expecting to see you guys here."
She gave a soft smile, her voice warm and friendly. "I'm Sasha Langley, editor-in-chief of Harper Fashion Magazine. Are you two here... talking business?"
Her gaze shifted between Ethan and me. "I'm a huge fan of you guys."novelbin
Sasha noticed we weren't responding and seemed a little embarrassed. "You guys are honestly the perfect couple in the fashion world. Your relationship is just as strong behind the scenes. We really should do an exclusive interview sometime-"
I cleared my throat and interrupted, "Ms. Langley, you're mistaken. Mr. Grayson and I are just discussing work, some... partnership stuff."
"Really?" Sasha arched an eyebrow, her smile flickering between amusement and suspicion. "That's a bummer. I thought a pair like you, so perfect for each other, would be inseparable in both work and life." How did Ethan and I end up being seen as the perfect couple?
