Chapter 162
"Doctor, what's my grandson's condition?" asked Maximilian, who was standing at the front.
The others, who respectfully stood behind him, dared not to interject.
"The patient is in excellent condition. Despite the impact on his body, his organs were not injured. He'll be fine after a few days of rest," stated the doctor solemnly.
He dared not show any neglect as the Gullifords owned a part of the hospital's shares.
"Then why is he unconscious?" Maximilian pressed on with confusion.
"It's due to a cut on the patient's blood vessel during the accident, which caused him to lose too much blood. He has already undergone a blood transfusion and his vitals are all stable. His blood type is Rh-negative, which is very rare. It was all thanks to the timely delivery of the blood bags from overseas. Or else, it would really be rather troublesome," the doctor replied.
"All right," said Maximilian before turning to Gabriel,
his butler. "Bring the doctor to get some rest."
With that, Gabriel respectfully motioned for the doctor to follow him.
Since the doctor managed to save the life of the Gulliford family's eldest son, it was only fitting that they would treat him well. Furthermore, t went without saying that the doctor would also be well compensated.
After the doctor and Gabriel had left, Maximilian, Vincent, and the others hurried up to Trevor after seeing him being pushed out of the emergency room by the nurse.
Meanwhile, Jessica, who was on the floor, breathed a sigh of relief when she saw Trevor laying on his bed, with the electrocardiogram displaying his steady heartbeats. "Thank goodness. He's still alive," she thought.
Then, the large group of people followed Trevor's hospital bed which was being pushed away from the emergency room.
The only one still kneeling outside the emergency room was Jessica. The relief and happiness she felt within had flushed away the negative thoughts that had previously plagued her. She soon realized that her legs had gone numb after standing up.
She did not visit Trevor as she was worried that his mood might be ruined after seeing her. On top of that, she dared not appear before Maximilian and Vincent as she was fully aware that she was to blame for Trevor's injury in the first place. Vincent was right; she was nothing but a plague.
Jessica returned home after leaving the hospital. She sat on the couch, feeling utterly dejected.
"What's wrong, Mom? Are you unhappy?" Faye asked.
The other children had Faye go over to console their mother as she was pretty and adorable.
On top of that, her greatest strength was cheering other people up.
"I'm fine, Faye," Jessica replied as she extended her hands and hugged the girl into her chest, her eyes downcast.
"You're lying, Mom. You look sad; it's obvious that you're unhappy. Did someone annoy you?" Faye
blinked her large eyes at Jessica and inquired with a smile that flashed her two dimples.
"Faye," Jessica started. Her eyes were sorrowful as she combed her long, delicate fingers through the girl's silken black hair. "Did you eat your meals on time?"
Jessica was trying to change the topic as she could feel her thoughts fumbling into a mess after being repeatedly questioned by Faye.
"Yeah. I do eat my meals on time. Don't you think that I've grown taller, Mom?" Faye asked.
"Mhm, you sure did," Jessica replied.
"Mom, is Dad picking on you again? Do you want me to have my brothers teach him a lesson?" Faye inquired. Jessica was taken aback by Faye's words.
She wondered how her children found out about Trevor being their father.
With her eyebrows tightly knitted together, Jessica questioned, "Faye, how did you find out?"
Faye paled in fright after seeing the seriousness in Jessica's eyes.
"Did I say something wrong, Mom? I just guessed that he's my dad as Bennett has been staying with him," Faye replied.
In fact, it was Asher who told her about it. However, Asher had also reminded her to keep it a secret.
"Faye, do not talk about this in the future, okay? And do not share this with your brothers," Jessica reminded.
"Okay. I'll not say anything about this," Faye replied, with a serious nod of her head.
However, deep down, she was contemplating. "What am I supposed to do? My brothers know everything. Should I tell Mom about it?"
