Chapter 166
Chapter 166
The two-story house in Hudson Yards was vast and vibrant. There was an elevator connecting both floors, which did not obstruct Wyatt’s wheelchair movements. Ivy ascended and took a look around the room. Indeed, everything was exactly as it was when she left. It appeared as though no time had passed since her last visit. However, those memories only served to make her depressed, dull, and out of breath. As if a massive rock were pressing down on her chest, crushing her bones and organs. Ivy used to enjoy sitting on the balcony chair, anticipating the appearance of Wyatt’s car at the gates. Wyatt, on the other hand, never appeared. Wyatt had never been in her room previously, but he was all she could recall. She was in such agony at the time. Ivy’s lips were curled indifferently. She casually drew over a trash can and emptied it of everything on the table. The dressing room was directly connected to her bedroom. When she opened the door and entered, she discovered that everything was brand new and still had the tags attached. Everything was in her size, including shoes and clothing. On the closet island, there was also a display of expensive jewelry. Ivy walked out silently and did not return her gaze to it. At the door, there was movement. Ivy checked the time and saw that it was already 6:30 p.m. Time passed quickly. When she opened the door, she noticed Rosie standing nervously in front of the tall and fierce bodyguard. Rosie appeared even more fearful upon seeing Ivy. “M-Ms. Morgan, Mr. Reed stated that he would like to invite you to dinner.” Ivy gave a clear nod. “All right.”
Rosie made a hasty descent. Ivy descended the stairs while checking her phone. With each step, her high heels clattered against the stairwell. The living room’s floor-to-ceiling window was open, allowing the breeze to enter. The dark patterns on the white brocade curtains floated and appeared to be dyed by the dusk glow, creating a lovely image. Ivy descended the stairs with her eyes lowered and appeared much softer in the sunset’s afterglow. Wyatt sat at his desk, having closed his laptop and the documents in front of him. Over his legs was draped a thin blanket. His strong and lean physique appeared to be brimming with strength. “Are you hungry?” he inquired, raising his brow. Rosie plucked up the courage to initiate a conversation in the kitchen. “Ms. Morgan, Mr. Reed has placed an order for the preparation of all your favorite dishes.” Ivy gave a faint smile. “I abstain from eating at night. Simply prepare a meal later for my bodyguard.” Naturally, no one dared to convince her. “At that point, you may accompany me.” Wyatt hadn’t eaten much throughout the day as he awaited the opportunity to share this meal with Ivy. Ivy sat opposite him in the chair. She flipped through the magazine on the side, looking extremely bored. Wyatt desired to speak with her but was suddenly aware that her bodyguard had been following her everywhere she went. Even if Bill remained silent, his presence was unavoidable. The bodyguard was a burly man with tall stature. Although his expressionless eyes were lowered, Wyatt had a vague sense that the bodyguard was constantly scanning the area. His ferocious face stood in stark contrast to the current warm and lovely scene. Wyatt would undoubtedly notice the large bodyguard behind Ivy if he raised his eyes. evading him. Wyatt’s expression shifted slightly. He smiled as he looked at Ivy. “Allow your bodyguard to rest and eat. At home, there will be no danger.” Wyatt was certain that the Morgan family would send someone to protect her in the aftermath of such an accident. Wyatt, too, made numerous security arrangements for Ivy in secret. Bill stood there motionless, like a sculpture. Ivy smiled and took a step back from the magazine. “I’m here to look after you, and Bill is here to look after me. It makes no difference whether there is danger or not. If you’re bothered by him, simply ignore him.” Wyatt gasped. ‘Ignore it. She is already here, so I should not be concerned about her fleeing. I just need to adjust to this gradually.’ His eyes flitted slightly as he examined the plate before him. Wyatt’s voice was gentle and seductive, with a hint of encouragement as he inquired, “Since you’re here to look after me, why don’t you feed me?” For a brief moment, the air was pretty static. Wyatt was aware that he was pushing his luck, but how would he know if it was possible if he did not attempt? Ivy took a brief pause. She regarded him with her hand propped up against her chin. Her lips curled up in a lovely arc. On the other hand, her voice was rational and indifferent, and she spoke with a hazy smile. "Did you also fracture your arm?" Although her smile did not extend to her eyes, it was impossible to dislike her. Wyatt's smile deepened as he noticed Ivy was not angry. He immediately gave himself a self- deprecating smile. He spoke in a low, regretful tone. "Are you going to abandon me so soon? Are you sure you can't do this for me?" Ivy's brows slightly twitched. 'What in the world was wrong with him?' I'd just drop him like a hot potato if he weren't injured! Why should I remain here and watch him perform? His performance is
atrocious!' She averted her gaze and took a deep breath. "Do not become enraged. Simply persevere!" Bill stepped forward in the next split second and picked up the bowl of soup in front of Wyatt. "Permit me, Mr. Reed..." Bill positioned the spoon directly in front of Wyatt's mouth. His face appeared to be ferocious, but his actions were opposed. Wyatt was being fed by him as if he were a baby. Bill even opened his mouth wide and let out an "ahh" as if he were demonstrating how to feed a toddler. For a brief moment, the dining room was deafeningly silent. Ivy couldn't help but laugh. Wyatt's face also became stiff and unpleasant. On the other hand, Bill was Ivy's bodyguard, and he couldn't care less what Wyatt thought. Wyatt's mouth twitched in less than two seconds. He extended his hand to seize the bowl from the bodyguard's grasp. His voice was hushed and icy. "My arm is not fractured. I'm going to eat alone." Bill retreated very sensibly behind Ivy and stood there like a ferocious statue. Wyatt much better behaved following that incident, and he finished his meal calmly with his head bowed. Ivy checked and responded to some urgent emails Henry had sent her on her phone. She was unaware that Wyatt's gaze had been fixed on her for an extended period. After responding, she placed her phone on the table and raised her eyes at him. "Are you finished?" Wyatt nodded and smiled softly. Ivy rose to her feet and was about to clear the dishes when Wyatt grabbed her wrist and stared helplessly at her. "I did not invite you here as a servant." Rosie emerged from the kitchen with haste. "I'm going to clean up." Ivy's brows furrowed. She was unwilling to do it in any case.
Wyatt patted his wheelchair and directed his gaze toward her. "How about we go to the study?" Ivy could assist him with such small tasks, so she approached him from behind and pushed his wheelchair. He could easily roll it himself, but he desired that she do so. Wyatt was overjoyed. Ivy rolled her eyes in secret and pushed him to the elevator. He almost certainly had to work on the study. Ivy considered going out with Brent and Thea for some fun in the evening. Wyatt examined Ivy in his second-floor study. "There are too many sensitive company documents here, so have your bodyguard stand guard at the door." "All right," Ivy stated. Bill had already assumed his position without instruction. Wyatt was pushed inside by Ivy. The study had undergone significant changes since she last visited. Initially, the study consisted of two adjoining rooms. Because it had previously been used exclusively by Ivy, it was utterly devoid of contents. On the walls were built-in bookcases, which were now brimming with books. Numerous files were organized on both sides of the room's arched bookcases. A large rectangular desk was positioned in the room's center. It contained two laptops and a smattering of scattered documents. Outside the window, light shone through the glass. In this hazy light, there was a sense of serenity. Ivy paused for a beat before pushing him forward. Wyatt halted her and directed her attention to the tatami on the opposite side of the room. "That way."
