The Billionaire's Regret

Chapter 207

Chapter 207

Ivy was apathetic and never touched the coffee cup with milk foam on top. Wyatt, seated across from her, observed this and pushed his unfinished coffee to her. Ivy raised her eyebrows in confusion. Wyatt laughed. His flirtatious gaze appeared so gentle in the eyes of outsiders. “I have not yet touched it. This cup contains no milk.” Liam chuckled softly and regarded the coffee cup in front of him. “Oh, I have Ms. Morgan’s cup. This is not ABC’s carelessness, right?” Avery’s heart was pounding. She felt as though a boulder was crushing her chest. Previously, she did not inquire about the preferences of her superiors and simply assumed them. She was forced to acknowledge that she was a poor assistant. Ivy gave a soft smile. She was indifferent as she spun the pen in her hand carelessly. “Fine. My assistant is to blame. I can invite you to my brother’s play’s opening night tonight to make amends. Just tell me if you’re interested?” Liam’s tongue clicked. “Obviously! Tickets to Sebastian are hard to obtain. Can I bring a guest?” “No, only yourself,” Ivy responded. Wyatt’s voice was distinct. “I’m going as well.” Ivy nodded and began packing her belongings as if nothing had occurred. “First, let’s stop here. Regarding where to list, let’s invite Mr. Seely back to continue the discussion the following time. I will start.” Liam called her name. “Shall we eat together?” “No, thank you,” Ivy declined. Ivy glanced at Avery as she was about to exit the room. “Since Greg is leaving for a business trip, you are welcome to join me tonight.” Ivy did not inquire about Avery’s viewpoint. Avery glanced inadvertently at Wyatt. She was both cautious and pleased. “Yes, Ms. Morgan,” she replied. There were numerous opportunities available to her. Eventually, Wyatt would notice her. Ivy did not care to observe their expressions and exited immediately.

Liam and Wyatt were the only two individuals remaining in the large, solemn conference room. Liam could not help but laugh smugly when he observed Wyatt’s dark and sullen face. “Mr. Reed, I thought you had a fantastic trip, but it appears there are still some bumps in the road, right?” The sharp gaze of Wyatt pierced Liam. He lacked any warmth on his face. “Curiosity can kill a cat.” Liam remained silent for a moment. He stood up and shook his head with a faint smile. “Do you believe Ms. Morgan kept this little assistant around on purpose?” The question posed by Liam was precisely what Wyatt was pondering. Nonetheless, Wyatt appeared unmoved. He arched his eyebrows. “Why don’t you inquire?” Liam did not receive a response from Wyatt, as anticipated. After all, not everyone could appreciate Wyatt’s drama, let alone witness him lose his temper. Wyatt calmly stood up and limped out while leaning on his cane. His aura was naturally unapproachable. After leaving the conference room, he awaited the elevator and proceeded to the elevator lobby. Avery Lamour, who had been waiting on the side, pressed the elevator button for him. “Mr. Reed...” She desired for him to notice her presence. “Where can I find Ms. Morgan?” Wyatt inquired. His tone resembled that of a typical subordinate. Avery’s face became rigid. She indicated the side office with her finger in the workplace with Jack. Wyatt remained silent and proceeded to the opposite office to wait for Ivy. Avery lowered her eyes to conceal her dismay. Then, she went to the pantry to fetch Wyatt a cup of coffee. Wyatt furrowed his eyebrows. “You are not my assistant,” he implied, implying that she had misidentified herself. Avery’s lips were pursed. She appeared soft and gentle, with a hint of subservience. “Mr. Reed, this is also my first time attending a play’s opening night. Is there anything that requires my attention?” Wyatt stated, “You don’t need to do anything.” What did she need to prepare for, being merely an assistant?

Avery exhibited an embarrassed grin. Capital Grand Theater. Ivy possessed front-row seats. She exited the vehicle wearing a light-colored dress. Despite the design's conservatism, it made her appear tall, slender, and curvy in all the right places. She wore it with elegant stilettos. Her temperament was brilliant and remarkable. Greg returned the dress from the boutique and gave it to Avery, who then presented it to Ivy. Journalists and spectators surrounded the theater. It was densely populated. It appeared that Sebastian, the celebrity lived up to his name. As Ivy descended the stairs, she tripped and shattered the heel of her stilettos. The reporters' cameras continued to flash beneath. If she walked over in this manner, her peculiar expression would be all over the news tomorrow. Ivy secretly cursed and retreated swiftly to her vehicle. "Miss, what's the matter?" Bill inquired. "My shoe's heel is cracked. Ivy stated, "Find me a new pair of shoes." Bill's dilemma widened his eyes. Next to her was Avery Lamour, who quickly spoke. "I have an extra pair of heels that is roughly the same size as yours. Why don't you wear these, Ms. Morgan?" Ivy regarded her in silence. Avery maintained a rigid and deliberate smile. "Certainly, thank you," Ivy responded. There was no other option available. If she waited for her new shoes, the opening of the play would be delayed. The positive aspect was that the spare heels were brand new. Even though it was not a luxury brand, the product was acceptable. As soon as they stepped out of the car, Ivy was surrounded by more flashes than an actress walking the red carpet. Ivy maintained a graceful stance and a warm smile. At the midpoint of her walk, the front strap of her heels became detached and broke. She instinctively bent to fix it when she felt a sudden chillMaterial © NôvelDrama.Org.

down her spine. The dress's zipper came undone! The weather was not excessively chilly, but it was slightly cooler at night than during the day. When Ivy realized this, she became rigid. Everything from the shoes to the dress appeared to be an accident, but Ivy's mind was filled with numerous thoughts. Everyone pointed to Avery. Ivy was gracious in extending this opportunity to Avery, but Avery was ungrateful. The camera continued to flash. Ivy was aware that the moment she stood up, someone would notice that her zipper was undone. She could feel the cold air beginning to penetrate her pores from the waist up. The reporters were surprised by her behavior and felt that something was amiss. Ivy inhaled deeply and prepared herself to be ridiculed by everyone in a few seconds. She was compelled to accept this tragic loss. Immediately after Ivy gritted her teeth and straightened up, a tall, imposing figure loomed over her. A black suit jacket was tightly draped over her. It felt pleasant and warm. Ivy was stunned for a moment before turning her head to see Marco Seely standing there; she was surprised to see him. Marco smiled and did not shy away from the flashing cameras or engage in inappropriate behavior. It appeared as though he was concerned about her being cold. All recognized Marco as the man in Ivy's image that day, which generated a great deal of online buzz. Soon, the reporters excitedly raised their cameras. "May I ask, Ms. Morgan, if he is your new love interest?" "Are you two truly a couple?" "Additionally, Mr. Reed will be present today. Do you wish to communicate with him?" "Are you two dating? Can you introduce this gentleman, Ms. Morgan?" Ivy appeared to be a great distance away from the constant din. Marco's smile was the only thing she saw, and it calmed her restless heart like spring water.

Marco did not utter a single word and only smiled at the camera. Then, he turned and led her into the theater. Ivy felt instantaneously relieved when she realized there were no reporters inside the theater. In the living room, she sat on the sofa. In the living room, she sat on the couch. Marco's heavy expression was fixed on her footwear. Suddenly, he got down on one knee beside her and removed her shoes. "Today, these shoes do not match your dress." Her dress was a custom-made, high-end collection, whereas these heels were off-the-shelf basics. Ivy looked down as Marco looked up. When their eyes met, time appeared to stop. One moment... Two seconds, then three... "What are you up to?" Wyatt's icy voice shattered the intimate silence.
