Chapter 2148 Are You Close to Gary?
Most of the people in the company are probably better than me. I'm not just the worst among Serena's
students; I might also be one of the worst in the company. Cindy simply nodded at the person without
saying much. Serena didn't bother to introduce the person, either. They simply went on with their meal
before Serena continued to talk about Cindy's skills and the improvements that she could make.
The other person sat around and listened to their conversation. She laughed along every now and
then, but she didn't interrupt their conversation. After they were done eating, Serena and Cindy
excused themselves. The other person had also finished her meal, and she seemed as if she was
eager to walk with them, but Serena was quick to draw her boundaries. "We'll head off now," Serena
uttered.
Upon hearing Serena's words, the person slowed her movements down for a moment before nodding.
"Go along. I just saw someone I know, so I'm going to go over to greet them." Cindy followed Serena
over to the elevators. Both the public and private elevators were accessible from the canteen floor.
Cindy didn't think much about this, but Serena was quick to head toward the private elevators, so Cindy Content is © by NôvelDrama.Org.
simply tagged along.
Once they were in the elevator, and once the doors were shut, Serena turned around to question
Cindy. "Are you close to Gary Frye?" she asked. Cindy was rather taken aback by this question. "We're
okay. Why do you ask?"
Serena smiled. "It's nothing. I was just curious. Mr. Kaufmann asked you guys out for a meal
previously, and I was thinking about how Mr. Kaufmann wouldn't have invited you if you didn't know
Gary. It seems like you must be pretty close to Gary for you all to have a meal together." Perhaps Cindy
had been closer to Gary in the past, but she simply found their relationship awkward at that point.
However, Cindy didn't say much about this. Serena was silent for a while before she let out a sigh.
"Well, Gary is pretty famous in the investment industry," she commented. Cindy was aware of this.
Regardless of how complicated her relationship with him was, she had no doubt that he was a skilled
man. Even Mr. Kaufmann treats him so respectfully. That just proves how impressive of a guy he is,
Cindy thought. "Yeah," she agreed with a nod. Cindy couldn't bring herself to say much more, and
Serena didn't continue with the topic, either.
After the both of them got out of the elevator, Serena returned to her office while Cindy went back to
her desk. She pulled her draft out and looked through it again before she made the necessary edits in
accordance with Serena's advice. There were other people in the office, and some of them looked
pretty troubled. They sat alone in their cubicles with grim looks on their faces. Meanwhile, there were
also other people who were in higher spirits. A bunch of them gathered around and chit-chatted with
one another about the drafts that they had submitted. It was clear that they were satisfied with their
performance.
Cindy took another glance at her own draft. She couldn't tell whether she had done a good job or if she
could've done better. She leaned back in her seat and thought about it for a while before she pulled
Serena's book out to take another look. Serena told her that she had some issues with color
coordination, but Cindy recalled how her lecturers had praised her for her color coordination back in
school. Maybe that's the difference between Serena and my lecturer, Cindy thought. She continued
reading for a while before she felt her phone vibrating.
Initially, Cindy thought that Ian might have texted her during his lunch break. So, she hurriedly pulled
her phone out to check her texts. She did receive a text, but it wasn't from Ian—it was from Naomi. And
it wasn't about any urgent matters. Naomi simply wanted to rant to Cindy about her boring life. Ever
since Yulia stopped causing trouble, Naomi lost her drive to fight back, and she no longer paid much
attention to the happenings in the entertainment industry.
Both Cindy and Naomi texted for a while more before Naomi recalled something. 'By the way, I nearly
forgot about this. I saw the news, and I heard that something happened at Ian's house," Naomi texted.
Cindy froze when she first saw the text. The fact that the news was about Morgan Residence told
Cindy that it could be related to a certain something.
After that, Cindy ignored Naomi's texts as she hurried off to check the news.
