Layla shook her head unbelievably at what Shane said. ” You know that’s impossible right? ” She asked rhetorically.

” Just say Yes. I’ll find a way ” Shane said instead. ” I’m sorry, but I can’t ” Layla muttered and Shane smiled lightly.

” So, why are you here? ” Layla asked, trying to clear off the intense atmosphere.

” Well… ” Shane paused briefly, tucking his hands into his pockets. ” I gave you the flowers already ” He pointed at the banquet sitting on the table where Layla had placed it.

” And I’m also here to inform you about this job idea I have for you ” He said and Layla raised her brows. ” Job?? ” Layla asked and he nodded.

” Yeah.. My secretary at work needs an assistant. And I think you might want to fill in that post. I would pay you hugely ” He said and Layla’s brows raised the more.

” But, why me? I mean you could get other people for the job? ” She asked. ” I just want you, I want you to have the job since you seem to be in need of a job ” He explained.

” But I… ”

” You can tell me what you think later. Think about it and give me a feedback ” He said, cutting her off with a light smile.

Layla nodded anyways. ” Alright then, I will take my leave ” He said, gesturing at the door and Layla nodded.

” Yeah, Bye ” She muttered and Shane smiled before walking his way out of their apartment while Layla followed behind to bade him goodbye.

She watched as he got into his car and she waved lightly at him. He smiled before driving off.

Layla sighed as she walked back into their apartment. As much as she would have loved to work in a big company like Shane’s. She can’t.. she’s only going to worsen things.

She had leave her initial job ’cause she was trying to avoid seeing him daily so her feelings wouldn’t increase the more for him. But now, he’s offering her a job at his company,, as his secretary. This clearly guarantee that she would be seeing him daily and frequently.

Should she accept his offer?? She sighed as she walked straight into her room still in thoughts. ” He seems like a gentleman now ” She muttered to herself and then suddenly chuckled. She’s glad at least that he isn’t trying to force her into accepting his request.

Not only her mom, including her dad. Her herself, she wouldn’t want that. She never loved rivalry. Two people trying to get the same thing, she hates it. She’s always the quick one to give up easily.

But it would really be a great thing if she gets to work in Shane’s company, as his assistant secretary. That’s a great thing right? She would get a good pay.

She would try considering this. She’s sure if Mirah’s aware she would urge her to do it without delay.

” Wow. That’s nice, come on tell him you’re interested ” Mirah gushed happily immediately Layla told her about the job offer.

” I know but… ”

” Come on, the pay would be good. He’s rich and he has a soft spot for you, I’m damn sure he would pay you hugely ” Mirah gushed and Layla nodded.

” I know right? But you know that was the main reason why I had left Mocha Coffee Shop,, ’cause of him. I wanted to stop this feelings I’m having for him. Come to think of it, if I work with him, as his secretary. I would get to see him daily and that’s only going to worsen the matter ” She explained and Mirah groaned and then with a shrug.

” Come on, that doesn’t matter, you could try to avoid him. Just go there, be professional and do your work and that’s all ” Mirah said and Layla let out a scoff. ” Quit talking like it’s gonna be as easy as you have said ” She said with a little groan and Mirah moved closer to her, poking her arm.

” Come on, just try ” Mirah urged, pleading with her. ” Alright, I’ll think about it ” Layla replied and Mirah scoffed. ” You should call him right now and update him that you’re interested ” Mirah snapped but Layla shook her head.

” I would wait for his call instead. And I will inform him by then ” She said and Mirah scoffed. ” You got some ego huh? ” She teased and Layla chuckled.

” Yeah whatever. So how was your date? ” She asked, changing the topic. ” It was fine. Ryan is such a nice guy ” Mirah complimented and Layla coughed knowingly.

” What? ”

” The guy, Ryan. You seem interested in him ” Layla said and she scoffed. ” Not at all. I just think he’s cool but I don’t like him that way. I still have a crush on Bryan ” She muttered the last word dreamily.

” Bryan Maynard? ” Layla asked like she wasn’t aware. Mirah hissed out loudly before walking out on her, straight into their room.

Layla walked after her laughing out loudly. ” What? Are you angry? ” Layla teased and Mirah scoffed. ” You can leave my room now ” She snapped and Layla burst into another round of laughter.

” Your room? Dude it’s our room! ” Layla teased and Mirah groaned inwardly and wrapped the duvet over her head.

” Mirah.. ” Layla teased the more.

” Bryan Maynard ” Layla muttered as a smile played on her lips.

** Kent Enterprise **

” Sir.. about the.. ”

” Give her more time. She’s gon’ accept. I’m sure. Tell Tina to hang on ” Shane cut Claus off. He nodded and then bowed.

” I would leave then ” He said and Shane nodded. Claus walked out of Shane’s office and almost immediately, Alec walked in.

” What’s up dude? ” He announced his arrival ad he walked over to Shane. Shane raised his head and then let out a smile. ” What’s up? ” He greeted and they both exchanged pleasantries.

” I’m fine, you? ”

” Great ” Shane replied. ” So, any update? ” Alec asked and Shane shook his head. ” Not really.. we still on it. She’s really insisting on not agreeing to this ” Shane explained. ” You seem okay. I mean you don’t look sad as I thought you would look ” Alec said.

” Yeah I’m okay. I’m not really that worried. I have this feeling she feels the same way I feel, and I’mma keep persisting her. And I have a plan on doing so ” He muttered and Alec raised his brows.

” And how do you plan on doing that? ” He asked. ” Well, I offered her a job here as an assistant secretary… ”

” Why? ”

” Claus keeps insisting on getting Tina an assistant, and I offered Layla the job ” He explained.

” And what was her reply? ”

” She said she would think about it, and I have this hunch she would be accepting it and when she does, I would try my possible best to win her heart ” Shane said and Alec couldn’t help but chuckle at how cute his friend looked when saying that.

” Guy, you’re gone. So gone in love ” Alec teased and Shane chuckled.

” I should go to her soon and ask her what her response is going to be ” Shane said and Alec scoffed. ” What? You’re leaving me here? ” Alec snapped and Shane chuckled.

” Nah, I was just joking. I ain’t leaving you here baby ” He teased and Alec scoffed.

” Better ” He muttered and Shane smiled the more.

*** The Girl’s Apartment ***

” So, you’re saying yes? ” Shane asked for confirmation. ” Yeah. Wait.. no. The yes is for something else ” She rushed, confusing Shane the more. They were on a phone call.

” For something else like? ” He asked.

Layla took in deep breaths. ” I meant, I would work in your company… as an assistant secretary ” She muttered and Shane chuckled inwardly. He was just teasing her.

” Yeah I know you meant that. Just thought of teasing you ” He said and Layla scoffed out loudly.

” Teasing my foot ” She snapped and Shane couldn’t help but chuckle out loudly. ” I missed this crazy side of you. I can’t wait to see you start working in my company tomorrow ” He muttered and Layla raised her brows, tho he couldn’t see her. ” Tomorrow? ”

” Yeah, tomorrow. You’re hired ” He said.
