” Where were you? ” Mirah asked immediately Layla entered into the apartment. ” I was with Shane ” She replied as she landed on the couch.

” Oh, so we spending the night at our man’s house now? ” Mirah teased but Layla let out a scoff.

” I have to get ready for work. I had to plead with him to drop me at home, he insisted that we should go to work together ” Layla muttered as she headed towards their room.

” Are we having a class today? ” Layla asked Mirah who walked with her to the room. ” Not really, but we having a class tomorrow ” Mirah replied and she nodded.

Mirah landed on the bed with a silent groan while Layla walked towards the closet. She came back with a dress. ” You’re not going to work today? ” Layla asked Mirah surprisingly. She let out a nod. ” Yeah, I quitted ” She replied.

Layla turned to her at once, in suprise. ” You quitted? ” She asked and Mirah nodded. ” Yeah, My boyfriend is a millionaire. What do you expect? He doesn’t want me to work in a coffee shop ” She said proudly and Layla shook her head at her friend’s drama.

” So, you have no job now? ” Layla asked but she shook her head. ” No, he’s getting me a job as an assistant secretary like you, in his company ” She said and Layla’s lips formed into a smile.

” Wow, that’s nice ” She said and Mirah nodded.” So, I’m off ” Layla said, after adjusting her dress. She fastened the strap of her bag and hanged it around her arm.

” Bye ” Mirah waved as Layla walked out of the room.

** Kent’s Enterprise **

” Tina listen to me.. ”

” Who’s the girl!? ”

” She’s no one! ”

Layla heard inaudible arguments as she almost walked into her – also Tina’s office. She made to open the door but then decided against it. She recognized the voices as Claus and Tina’s.

” Are they having a fight? ” She thought silently. She turned and headed over to Shane’s office.

She wanted to push the door open but the thought of an important guest being inside with Shane made her knock. She knocked at the door gently. ” Who’s it? ” Shane’s thick voice rang in her ears and she smiled unconsciously.

” It’s Layla ” Her little tiny voice came out but it was loud enough for him to hear. ” Come in ” He said and almost immediately, she twisted the door knob open.

She walked in and the receptionist she had met the other day was in. She bowed lightly and Layla did the same.

” Riley you can leave now ” Shane said and Riley bowed lightly to him before walking out of his office. Layla heard the door close before she let out a big smile as she walked over to Shane.

Shane dropped the file he was holding as his lips crept into a smile. He stood up from his seat and walked over to his girl. He pulled her to him and hugged her softly.

” How was your night? ” He asked with a kiss on her hair. ” You know you already asked me that before? ” She said and he let out a chuckle. ” I know right ” He muttered, breaking the hug. ” So?… ” Layla trailed off, looking around.

” Are you busy? ” She asked, glancing at the files on his table. ” Well, yeah I guess ” He muttered. ” I should leave you to it then. I think I will be busy too ” She said and Shane nodded. ” Alright then. Bye baby ” He said and pecked her lips.

Layla smiled and then nodded. She turned to leave but suddenly turned her face to Shane’s. Shane raised his brows but she only smiled. She moved closer to him and standing on her toes to reach his height, she pecked his lips deeply. She pulled away and Shane smiled and with that, Layla walked out of his office.

Shane smiled before walking over to his seat. He sat down and his lips crept to a smile ad he reminisced on Layla’s cute act earlier. He touched his lips lightly and then rubbed on them. His phone suddenly beeped, jolting him out of his thoughts.

He raised his brows as he reached his hands to his phone. He grabbed it and clicking on the message notification, he was more than shocked.

He was more than shocked as the phone slipped from his hands unconsciously. ” Wh.. what.. what does she mean? ” He stuttered still in shock.

He reached for his phone that had dropped on the floor and he stared at the text again. He scrolled up to confirm if truly it was Brielle and really it was Brielle.

” I.. I.. wait… Brielle’s coming back? ” He asked himself in shock as beads of sweat formed all over his face. He wasn’t expecting this so soon. He knew one day would come when Brielle would be back but not so soon.

” Wait, Brielle’s coming back? ” Alec asked in shock. Shane only nodded,, he was seated on his seat but one could notice he was restless.

” Gosh, that’s so soon. But why now? What does she want? What excuse did she give for ignoring the wedding contract? ” Alec asked and Shane sighed.

” None at all. She didn’t state any of that, she only stated that she would be back soon and it was shocking. Why would she come now? Gosh.. ” He sighed confusedly.

” You don’t have to worry right? Just tell her you want a divorce. Why would she ignore the contract all this while and then suddenly appear out of the blue ” Alec said, trying to calm him down.

” Have you told Layla? ” He asked and Shane sighed. ” That’s one of my fears. I haven’t and I don’t know how she would react to this. I mean, it took her so long before she could accept her feelings not minding the fact that Brielle was married to me and now.. Brielle is back…. I mean.. ” He paused with a sigh.

” She would literally feel restless and might want to back out,, the same feeling I’m feeling right now ” Shane muttered and Alec couldn’t help but sigh.

” I don’t think you should panic right now. Just calm down,, and take your time before telling her ” Alec suggested but Shane shook his head.

” I would love that, but what if she comes so soon like she stated. I don’t want it to come as a shock to her. I would just tell her before it appears as a shock to her ” He said and Alec nodded.

” I’m just scared ” He muttered. ” Scared of who? Brielle or Layla? ” Alec asked.

” I’m scared,, I don’t know how Layla would reacts. She might really want to back out.. it’s saddening, we were just getting started ” He muttered and Alec sighed.

” Come on, just tell her first ” He said and Shane nodded.

” Yeah, I hope this won’t lead us to breaking apart. I don’t think I can do without her anymore ” He muttered sadly.

*** Evening ***

It was time for Layla to leave and she was on her way to Shane’s office, he had requested for her and all she had on her mind was, he probably wanted them to go home together.

She pushed the door open revealing Shane who was resting a part of his butt by his desk. One could easily notice the restless look on his face. Layla was worried immediately. She closed the door gently and walked over to him. She stood in his front.

She felt his temperature with her hand but it was normal. Shane looked up at her. She noticed his heart was beating so fast than usual.

” Are you okay? ” Layla asked but he kept mute and only stared at her face worriedly. ” Come on, you’re making me more worried. What’s wrong? ” She asked, looking at every part of his face like she was searching for something.

He let out a sad smile and touched her face delicately. ” Layla, you love me right? ” He asked and that made her worried the more. ” Shane… ” She tried to say but she stopped her by placing his finger on her lips. ” Answer my question first. Do you love me? ” He asked again and Layla nodded, still looking at him worriedly.

” Yes, I love you but Shane what’s wrong? ” She rushed. ” You won’t ever leave me right? ” He asked and Layla nodded tho she was getting more anxious every minute.

” I love you ” Shane muttered and crashed his lips on hers. Tho she was still worried, she reciprocated immediately with the same pace, kissing him fastly and roughly as he did. Shane’s hand wrapped around her waist as he pulled her more to himself, her chest slammed on his and she let out a short moan.

They kept feasting on each other’s lips until the door suddenly pushed open and they disengaged immediately.

Shane’s eyes almost pooped from its socket and it was the same with Layla.

” Brielle.. ” Shane called, almost in a whisper.
