Anne was stunned by her sudden reaction. She cleared her throat and avoided my eyes.

I’m not sure if this is the first time that she lost her temper. I guess, Liam still affects her. That increases my curiosity about their past relationships. I know that I shouldn’t fry on her business with him, but I can’t help it. I wanted to know more about Anne’s past since she’s working and close to my boyfriend, Andrew.

“A-Andrew, I suddenly feel unwell. Can we just meet tomorrow about the contract?” Anne asked looking so pale.

Andrew nodded but looks confused. “Sure, you look pale. Let’s meet tomorrow.”

Anne nodded and went straight to her car and drove it.

“What was that?” Andrew blurted out.

I just shrugged and I invited him inside the house to push through our initial plan which is to spend more time together since we’ll be back to work tomorrow.

Andrew and I stayed in the garden while waiting for our lunch to be ready. None of us are talking. I think we are thinking the same thing. Something is really fishy about Anne and Liam. I’ll make sure that I will find some information tomorrow.

“Who are you going to meet tomorrow?” Andrew suddenly asked.

I sighed. I know why he is asking me about my meeting tomorrow. “I’m meeting Kyle William Valencia of Platinum, Inc tomorrow,” I answered him.

“Platinum Inc?” He said then his eye widen by the realization of whom I am meeting tomorrow.

“You are meeting Anne’s ex-boyfriend.”

It was not a question.

I nodded like it was nothing.

He look at me suspiciously, but I just shook my head.

“Don’t look at me like that. My meeting with Liam has already been in my schedule even before I found out about his past relationship with Anne,” I said in my defense.

“Are you telling the truth?” Andrew asked suspiciously.

I rolled my eyes at him. “Of course, I’m telling the truth. There’s no point in lying to you about my meeting with him. But now that Anne gave me that reaction, it made me more curious about their past relationship and I want to know more.” I honestly said to Andrew.

Andrew holds my hand and caresses it. “Baby you don’t need to do that. Their past is none of our business. We shouldn’t meddle with it.”

“I have no plans on meddling with them. But I want to know what happened to them. I need to be sure that she’s not planning anything for you. Anne’s past is no joke.” I said firmly.

“Baby,”

I remove her hands from mine and ignore his plea.

Andrew stays here until dinner. He bonded with my parents and siblings. I am content with my life right now. I couldn’t ask for more. I want this peaceful life forever. And to be able to achieve that, I need to know more about Anne’s past and her future plan.

I was preparing for my meeting tomorrow when my phone rang. I look at my phone and saw Anne’s name on it. My forehead creased. Why is she calling me this late? It’s almost midnight!

Because of curiosity, I decided to answer her call.

“Yes?” I said.

“Can we talk? I’m outside your house right now.”

My eyes widen. “What?”

I went to the window and saw her car in front of our gate. Is this about my meeting tomorrow? Oh my! What’s her deal?!

“I’ll be down in a bit,” I said then I end the call.

I went to my walk-in closet to change clothes since I’m already in my sleeping wear.

I call our guard to open the gate for Anne. I invited her to our garden to talk.

“What the hell are you doing here this late?!” I said a bit irritated.

I was so tired and I want to get my work done so I can finally sleep, but thanks to Anne, I will have to work more hours.

“Are you really meeting Liam tomorrow?” She asked ignoring my irritation.

So this is the reason why she’s here? She still can’t over the fact that I will be meeting his ex-boyfriend.

“Why will I lie about that?” I just said.

“Don’t play dumb with me Alli. You knew that I have a past with him. So tell me, are you really meeting him tomorrow or you just say that so I can leave you and Andrew alone?!” She said accusing me.

My jaw dropped from her accusation. Why will I go that low? For what?!

“Yes, I know that you had a past with him. But I will never lie just to make you leave. Liam is in the fashion industry, remember? My meeting with him is already on my schedule even before I found out about your past.” I said coldly.

“I don’t believe you!” She said raising her voice.

“Then don’t! No one is forcing you!” I said in an equal tone.

“Why are you doing this to me? What did I do to you to deserve this?” She said then her tears fell.

I was stunned by the sudden shift of her emotion. “I’m not doing anything! Can you stop accusing me?!” I said a bit panicking because her tears won’t stop.

I don’t know if I should console her or what. She was sitting and crying helplessly. I decided to go close to her, then I smell something.

“Are you drunk?!” I asked.

She glared at me. “Why are you making my life miserable?!”

“What are you saying?!”

“First, you stole Lieo from me. I thought you are my friend! You knew that I like him but you still seduce her!” She shouted at me.

“I am not!” I denied her accusation.

“You did! I am almost succeeding in winning his heart, but because of you, my plan went to waste! And the worst part is, you chose Andrew over him!” She said almost hysterical.

“Even though Lieo knew that you are in love with Andrew, he still chose to love you secretly. He never let me in. And it’s all your fault! You are so selfish! You want them in the palm of your hand!”

“I’m not selfish and I never seduce Lieo! And it’s a good thing that Lieo never fell for you because I’m not sure if you really love him or his money!”

I know that my statement will hurt her, but I couldn’t control myself anymore. She has no right to accuse me of anything.

“I like Lieo! I really do! Yes, I started to approach him because of his money, but I fell for him in the end! And because of you, I lost him!” She shouted again.

“Lieo didn’t like you! He never did.”

I could see the hurt in her eyes after hearing those words from me. I guess, she really did fall in love with Lieo.

I can feel my heart soften for Anne. She still used to be my friend. And looking at her right now pains my heart. I was about to comfort her when she look at me again.

“Can you not meet Liam?” She pleaded.
